Desctribe Your Job Listing Job Description: The University of Missouri Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (VMDL) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a veterinary toxicologist position. This full-time faculty appointment will be hired at the level of tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and career aspirations. The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology will be the academic home of this position. The VMDL is Missouri’s only full-service for all animal species laboratory accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory. The VMDL is a Level I lab of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) and Tier I lab of the FDA Veterinary Laboratory Investigation and Response Network (Vet-LIRN). The VMDL plays a critical role in the College of Veterinary Medicine’s tripartite mission: teaching, research, and service. All faculty are expected to serve on University, College and VMDL committees and represent the University in their profession, such as serving on professional committees and reviewing manuscripts for journals. Desctribe Your Job Listing DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology (VMP) and the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) are inviting applicants to fulfill a faculty position opening in Veterinary Diagnostic Toxicology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This is a full-time (12 month) career track (clinical track) position, and the successful applicant will join a dedicated team focused on clinical service, teaching, and scholarship. RESPONSIBILITES: The position is defined as approximately 60% clinical service/outreach/clinical training, 20% preclinical didactic teaching, 15% scholarly activity and 5% academic service with final effort distribution negotiable at the time of hire. The successful applicant will be expected to provide general laboratory oversight and leadership of the WADDL toxicology section in collaboration with the University of Idaho Analytical Sciences Laboratory (UI-ASL). Diagnostic clinical service efforts will include coordination of cases, testing, and diagnostic interpretation of toxicology testing results. Outreach efforts will include consultation, communication with and presentations to veterinarians, veterinary students, and animal owner users of WADDL, as well as external state and federal animal and public health agencies working with WADDL. In collaboration with the ASL, the successful applicant is expected to assist in expanding the veterinary diagnostic toxicology capabilities provided by WADDL and the UI-ASL and be engaged in FDA Veterinary Laboratory Investigation and Response Network (Vet-LIRN) of which WADDL/UI-ASL is a member. In addition, the successful applicant will assist in the development of a regional veterinary toxicology network which includes WADDL, the Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (OVDL) the Montana Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (MVDL) and other interested veterinary medical diagnostic laboratories as appropriate. Additional comments Administrative Relationships: The incumbent is responsible to the SVMBS Director for all diagnostic activities, administration, subject matter coordination, educational programming and outreach, operating budget, reporting, annual performance appraisal, and expenditure of professional travel funds. The Director of the SVMBS conducts annual performance evaluations of the NVDC faculty in consultation with the NVDC Director. A CLIA-licensed human testing laboratory was established in 2021 to support SARS-COV2 surveillance for the campus community to assure a safe environment. To date, over 300,000 tests have been performed. The required qualifications for this position are a DVM degree (or equivalent) and eligibility to obtain a license to practice in Nebraska with USDA APHIS accreditation; an MS degree in a relevant field of study (pathology, microbiology, or related infectious disease or diagnostic disciplines); qualified for the rank of full professor with tenure at the time of appointment; five years of experience in veterinary diagnostic laboratory service or relevant work (including practice management, regulatory/policy, finance, or quality management); and a Nebraska driver’s license or the ability to acquire a Nebraska driver’s license.
